"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy is saying that his show's star Lea Michele was the one who made the call about how to handle the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith on screen.
In an interview with "E! News," Murphy, who announced on Saturday that Cory's character would die on the show's upcoming season, said no decisions would have been made without Lea's consent. Murphy said that he's "never met a 26-year-old person stronger than Lea" and that she was the one who insisted the Fox show carry on, so that the cast and crew could reunite to mourn and remember Cory as a group.
The producer said they plan on having grief counselors on set while shooting the tribute. He added that he wants fans to know that a lot of thought was put into their decision to kill off Cory's character Finn Hudson and that everything has been done with Lea's blessing.
The show pushed its season five premiere back by a week in light of the tragic news, and will now start back up on September 26th.
